Who Is RoundKick Promotions?
RoundKick Promotions is based in Carroll, which is located in west central Iowa, about the same distance from Des Moines, Omaha, and Sioux City.  An excellent location for a quick drive to either city.  RoundKick Promotions was started from the dream of its owner, Pete “The Python” Peterson, a former professional kickboxer, who envisioned sharing the excitement of kickboxing with others while bringing a unique form of entertainment to the Carroll area and is now expanding out to include other cities, such as Des Moines, Ames, and Boone.

When Did RoundKick Promotions Begin?
In March of 2005, RoundKick Promotions began promoting Muay Thai kickboxing events in the Carroll area and has established itself for top quality events.   Fighters and trainers from across the United States and Canada contact Pete to be matched on his shows due to his reputation as an honest and fair promoter.  Attendance of the Carroll events have more then doubled since being introduced and are quickly becoming “sold out” shows.   Once you have attended a show, you  easily become a fan!

What Is Muay Thai?  Is it the same as "UFC"?
Because Muay Thai is just starting to explode in the US, people hear the word "fight" and many times it is thought to be MMA fighting which is also known as UFC, Ultimate, Cage, or No Holds Barred (NHB).  Muay Thai is the art that most MMA fighters will train for the stand up part of their fighting. Muay Thai does not go to the ground and does not include techniques such as ground & pound or joint submissions.  Muay Thai could be compared more closely to a modified rules style known as K1 kickboxing, that has been seen on PPV or as ISKA Kickboxing that has been shown on ESPN.

Muay Thai is also known as Thai Boxing. It is the national sport of Thailand and is fast becoming well known and highly trained in the USA and around the world.  Although Muay Thai is known as "kickboxing", it is not without blood or knock outs, and is the most extreme of the rules styles.  In Muay Thai, clinching while throwing knees and elbows to the body are allowed in the states and outside of the states, knees and elbows are allowed to all parts of the body, including the head. Throws are also allowed, but once thrown, fighters are stood back up to continue and are not allowed to fight on the ground.

The greatest difference in Muay Thai and MMA fighting is that Muay Thai takes place in a boxing ring with a referee involved in all of the action for safety, and is a stand up fight.  If a Muay Thai fighter appears to not be fighting back or overwhelmed by the action, the referee will break action and give a "standing 8" to the fighter, which gives him or her a chance to regain composure and continue the fight. During a standing 8, the referee sizes up the fighter and makes a decision about their ability to still fight.  A fighter will either be able to continue or the referee will call it a "TKO", or technical knock out, if they feel the fighter cannot continue.  In the octagon with MMA fighters, the referee will only become involved for extreme cuts and when a fighter has not submitted but is not responding, and needs assistance. Once a referee determines the fighter is not fighting back, they call an end to the fight and it's over. Even if the fighter is still able to regain composure and continue, they aren't allowed to re-enter the fight.

Is this something I could bring my children to?
RoundKick Promotion’s events are promoted as "family" entertainment.  Fowl language, inappropriate music and bad sportsmanship are not allowed.  The setting is positive and exciting and is appropriate for all ages.

Team RoundKick, as well as other teams, have kickboxing fighters training as young as 5 years old.  They cannot compete in tournaments until they are 8 years old and will fight under either  Muay Thai rules or under modified rules known as "International Rules" where no knees or elbows are allowed.  Fighters are both female and male and many times, you will see families training together because of the wonderful health and self defense benefits, plus the respect they gain for each other when training together.

What benefits will I receive as a sponsor of RoundKick Promotions and their events?
Our goal at RoundKick Promotions is to bring top quality Muay Thai kickboxing events to Des Moines and west central Iowa, either as single or two night events, or as two day tournaments open to all ages.   Our sponsors benefit greatly from the variety of exposure associated with the events.

For the events, radio and TV commercials are produced with sponsors listed within their content.  Full color, 11"x17" posters are printed, along with flyers, banners, table toppers, postcards, and other various promotional material. All have sponsors listed on for exposure.  One of the largest perks is having their website and contact information linked on ours.  Our website is currently #5 for the most hits received by a kickboxing promoter across the nation.  We have several sponsors reporting the high number of hits coming into their websites from our links.  We also give the option of those without a website, to have a downloadable coupon from our site so interested customers may bring it in for savings.

At our events, the options of sponsors are to have a booth to showcase or sell their products and services and also hand out flyers or other promotional material to everyone attending the events. Anything is possible.
